Petersburg, VA - The Lady Rams softball team saw their three-game win streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as they dropped the first game of a doubleheader to the Virginia State University Lady Trojans by the score of 13-5 in Petersburg, VA.
WSSU's SaRhonda Hawkins was saddled with the loss as she dropped to 2-6 overall on the year as she gave up 13 runs on 14 hits en route to the loss.
The Lady Trojans scored three runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the fourth and fifth innings, and had a pair of one-run innings in the third and sixth innings as they cruised to the relatively easy win.
WSSU was able to tally a pair of runs in the second and fourth innings and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth innings as they fell in defeat.
With the loss, the Lady Rams drop to 3-9 overall as WSSU drops its first CIAA league game of the season, falling to 3-1 in the CIAA in the process.
The two teams return to action at 3:00 PM as they will complete the doubleheader with the second game of the twin bill.
