Petersburg, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams' softball team fell to 3-10 overall on Sunday afternoon as they lost their second straight game and were swept in a CIAA softball league doubleheader by the Virginia State University Lady Trojans in Petersburg, VA 13-3.
WSSU's SaRhonda Hawkins was saddled with the loss as she dropped to 2-7 overall on the year as she gave up 13 runs on 11 hits en route to the loss.
The Lady Trojans scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and fourth innings and five more runs over the next two innings as they were able to easily sweep the Lady Rams in an important intra-divisional CIAA softball matchup.
WSSU was able to tally only three runs in the contest as they all came in the fifth and final inning.
With the loss, the Lady Rams drop to 3-10 overall as WSSU drops its second straight CIAA league game of the season, falling to 3-2 in the CIAA in the process.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday, March 16th, 2005 at 2:00 PM as they play host to Lenoir-Rhyne College in a non-conference softball doubleheader at Civitan Park.
