HAMPTON, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams fell short in their bid to split a pair of games with the Lady Hawks of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday morning as they fell in defeat 3-1 in third-round action from the Hampton University Lady Pirates Softball Tournament in Hampton, VA.
Neither team was able to put runs on the scoreboard during the first two innings, until WSSU put one on the board in the third with UMES tallying two in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Hawks would add a lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning as WSSU was never able to overcome the third-inning deficit en route to the loss.
WSSU's Elyon Taylor pitched four innings giving up seven hits and all three earned runs.
