Final Stats
HAMPTON, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams closed out action from the Hampton University Lady Pirates Softball Tournament in Hampton, VA with an 8-5 loss to the Lady Bears of Morgan State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Rams jumped out to an early 5-3 lead, one which they would carry into the bottom of the sixth inning.
The bottom of the inning would prove to be devastating for WSSU as Morgan State would score six runs, two coming on passed balls, and a third coming off of a WSSU fielding error. The Lady Bears then used a pair of extra base hits to take the 8-5 lead, a lead which they would never give up.
WSSU's Amber Shore pitched six innings giving up seven hits and all eight runs. She would strike out five batters and walk only four.
The loss drops the Lady Rams to 8-12 overall (6-0 CIAA, 2-0 CIAA West). WSSU returns to action at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 versus Shaw University in Raleigh, NC.
