HAMPTON, VA - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-17) snapped their nine-game losing streak in a big way with a 14-0 win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, Sunday afternoon. The Lady Rams set season-highs in both hits (17) and runs (14) scored in the victory.

 

Freshman pitcher Ashley Boswell (1-8) scored a pair of career firsts in the win notching her first win and pitching a perfect game of her career. Boswell allowed no runs, hits, or errors in the win, while the Lady Rams rolled out 17 total hits in the game.

 

The Lady Rams broke the game open in the second inning when the team scored seven runs and took control of the game 8-0. With the game in hand, the Lady Rams added six more runs in the fourth inning to put the game away. Freshman outfielder Devyn Gillette notched four RBI in the win and went 3-for-4 from the plate.

 


 

 

The team will return to action Wednesday when they head to Greensboro to face the Triad rival North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies. The two teams have met twice already this season with the Lady Rams taking a pair of losses.
