Lawrenceville, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team recorded their second straight victory over the St. Paul's College Lady Tigers on Sunday afternoon when they handed SPC a 20-1 loss in the final game of a CIAA softball doubleheader in Lawrenceville, VA.
WSSU made sure that the contest was decided early as they turned in a season-high 13 runs in the first inning as the outcome of the game was never in doubt. The Rams tallied 20 runs on 16 hits in the game and scored in every inning played (5).
Six Lady Rams recorded multiple-hit games with all but one active player batting in at least one run. WSSU was led by Curtina Barrett who turned in three hits and scored three runs.
Recording the win was Heather Davis. Davis, a senior pitcher from Detroit, MI faced 24 batters in the contest giving up four hits and a single run while striking out seven in five innings of work as she improved to 5-6 on the season and has started every contest for WSSU in 2004.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 5-6 overall while the Lady Tigers fall to 0-7 on the season. The Lady Rams return to action on Wednesday, March 24th, 2004 at 12:00 pm when they play host to the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University in yet another important CIAA softball doubleheader.
