Bowie, MD - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team bounced back from a game-one loss to Bowie State University on Saturday by earning a 12-10 victory in the second and final game of a CIAA softball doubleheader from Bowie, MD.
The two teams would prove just how evenly matched they were as they traded runs in the first inning as both teams put a trip of runs on the scoreboard.
The runs would continue as WSSU gave up a pair of runs in the second inning before tying the score with two of their own in the top of the third frame.
The difference would be the game's fifth inning as the Lady Rams would rally to score four runs in the top-half of the inning en route to the eventual 12-10 win.
Shannon Davis pitched seven strong innings for the Lady Rams, surrendering nine hits and ten runs (seven of which were earned). Davis recorded five strike outs while walking seven batters in the complete-game outing.
Recording the loss for the Lady Bulldogs was J. Willey who pitched five innings. Willey recorded two strikeouts in the contest while walking only six batters. She gave up nine runs on ten hits however as she was saddled with the loss.
WSSU will return to action on Monday afternoon at 1:00 PM when they play host to Shaw University at Civitan Park in the first game of a CIAA league softball doubleheader.
