Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team saw Shaw University put six runs on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning as the Lady Bears easily won the first of a pair of CIAA softball contests at Civitan Park in Winston-Salem, NC on Monday.
The Lady Rams would give up three runs over the first four innings before the Lady Bears awoke from their slumber in the seventh inning as they recorded six runs that would close the deal on the contest's outcome.
WSSU's Shannon Davis was saddled with the loss as she gave up eight hits and nine runs in a complete-game effort. Davis recorded five strikeouts while walking six batters.
The Lady Rams fall to 3-10 overall with the loss and will return to action at 3:30 PM for the second and final game of the twin-bill.
