Winston-Salem, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears handed the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State University their second loss of the day in the second game of a CIAA league doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Civitan Park in Winston-Salem, NC by the score of 9-3.
The Lady Rams would give up three runs over the first three innings before the Lady Bears put a five-spot on the board in the fourth inning of play.
WSSU was the beneficiary of only three hits in the contest as Toyia Vaughn, Louise Ellis, and Jennifer Jones each recorded a lone hit in the game.
WSSU's Shannon Davis was saddled with the loss as she gave up seven hits and nine runs in a complete-game effort. Davis recorded four strikeouts while walking six batters.
The Lady Rams fall to 3-11 overall with the loss and will return to action at 3:30 PM for the second and final game of the twin-bill.
