WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Ashley Boswell pitched a complete game allowing 13 hits and 10 runs (six earned) as Florida A&M University defeated Winston-Salem State University by the score of 10-1 in the first game on a non-conference softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Southpark Field in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The Rattlers opened the contest with a lead-off solo home run by Nakendra Jones as Florida A&M jumped out to an early lead.
FAMU added three runs in the top of the third, fourth and fifth innings as they increased their lead en route to the victory.
The lone bright spot of the afternoon for WSSU would prove to be Kendall Sutton's RBI single in the bottom of the third inning that scored Whitney Hall from second base as the Lady Rams tallied their only run of the game.

Boswell pitched well in the contest as she scattered 13 hits over five innings of play. She gave up only six earned runs as the Lady Rams' pair of errors gave FAMU four runs in the WSSU loss.
The loss drops Bowell to 1-10 on the season as WSSU falls to 4-20 on the year with the loss.
The Lady Rams return to action at 4:00 pm as they take to the diamond for the second game of the non-conference doubleheader.
