WSSU Softball Completes Sweep; Defeats Savannah State 8-0 In Game Two - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - It took six innings, but the Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team cruised to its second straight victory over Savannah State University on Tuesday afternoon at Southpark Field as the Lady Rams completed a two-game sweep of the Lady Tigers to improve to 13-9 on the season with the victory. The six-inning affair would see WSSU earn an 8-0 victory as the Lady Rams outscored Savannah State 19-0 on the day.

The Lady Rams belted out 14 hits in the contest as five WSSU players recorded at least two hits each in the game with a pair of Lady Rams collecting three-hit performances.

WSSU tallied two runs in each of the first two innings, scored one run in bottom of the fourth inning and closed out the contest with a three-run sixth inning as they earned their 13^th win of the season.

Starting pitcher Ashley Boswell earned the win for the Lady Rams as she pitched a complete-game six-hitter en route to collecting 11 strikeouts in the process. Boswell also led the Lady Rams with three runs batted in as she helped her own cause at the plate.

The win improves the Lady Rams to 13-9 overall while the Lady Tigers fall to 3-25 with the loss.

WSSU returns to action on March 29, 2008 as the Lady Rams travel to Tallahassee, Florida to face the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers in a doubleheader.
