Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team committed a season-high 10 errors on Saturday afternoon as they suffered a 12-4 defeat at the hands of the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings at Southpark Field in Winston-Salem, NC in the second game of a CIAA softball doubleheader.
The game would be close throughout the first four innings of play as the two teams headed to the top of the fifth inning of play tied at 1-1.
However, that is when the first of ten errors that spanned only three innings would take place as the Lady Vikings put five runs on the board in the top of both the fifth and seventh inning en route to the 12-4 win.
Shannon Davis was saddled with the loss as she pitched a five-hit complete game. Davis walked 13 batters in the contest as she gave up all 12 runs, with only six of them being earned. With the loss she falls to 3-6 overall in 2005.
WSSU returns to action on August 29th, 2005 as they travel to Raleigh, NC to face the Lady Falcons of Saint Augustine's College in a CIAA softball doubleheader.
