WASHINGTON, DC - A seven-run fifth inning was too much for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (6-23) to overcome as the team took a 10-1 loss to the Howard Lady Bison, Wednesday afternoon. Howard scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to seal the WSSU loss.

The game was closer than the final score indicated with the Lady Rams holding Howard scoreless for the first two innings before allowing three runs in the third inning. A single by WSSU junior outfielder Domica Scott drove in the sole WSSU run in the fifth inning. Senior outfielder L'Tisha Bell scored the run. However, the Lady Rams suffered a meltdown in the bottom of the inning allowing seven Howard runs on seven hits to seal the WSSU loss.

The Lady Rams totaled just three hits in the loss with sophomore Leslie Hollis, Bell, and Scott each notching singles in the loss. Sophomore Amber Shore pitched four and two-thirds innings in the loss allowing 10 earned runs on 12 Howard hits in the loss.

The Lady Rams will return to action on Saturday when the team will face the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at South Park Field in Winston-Salem, NC.
