Salisbury, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team has yet to lose a game in the CIAA as WSSU improved to a perfect 12-0 in league play on Friday afternoon as they handed the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears a 10-0 loss in the second game of a league doubleheader that took place in Salisbury, NC.
WSSU started slowly as they tallied only a single run in the first two innings before breaking the game wide open in the third inning as the Lady Rams put the contest out of reach turning in the games' final eight runs in the third frame of play.
Eight Lady Rams had at least one hit in the contest with four players recording multiple-hit games. WSSU was led by short stop LaKelsha Carney who turned in three hits going 3 for 4 in the contest, scoring a pair of runs and driving in another in the WSSU win.
Recording the win for the Lady Rams was Amber Nance, who improves to 3-0 with the victory, turning a five inning no-hitter allowing no runs on no hits while striking out eight batters as she missed throwing a perfect game when she walked the second-to-last batter that she faced. She remains flawless on the season in four appearances since returning to the team only a week ago.
With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 15-6 overall and remain a perfect 12-0 in the CIAA and are currently riding an 12-game win streak. The Lady Blue Bears fall to 3-17 overall (3-14 CIAA) with the loss.
The Lady Rams will return to action at 12:00 pm on Saturday as they host the Lad Broncos of Fayetteville State University in a CIAA league doubleheader at Southpark Field.
