DURHAM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (14-12) battled from the first pitch to the last inning, but suffered a 2-1 loss to the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles (3-31), Wednesday afternoon. The loss came despite a stellar defensive effort by the Lady Rams that went error-free for the game and allowed just three hits to the Lady Eagles.
The game came down to the slightest margin of error as both NCCU runs were scored on a first inning wild pitch by the Lady Rams. The WSSU defense held the Lady Eagles scoreless for the remainder of the contest, but the squad could manage just one run in the contest. An RBI single by WSSU freshman Kayla Woodbury drove in the sole WSSU run in the loss.
WSSU junior Lonnie Jones was two-of-two from the plate in the loss. Woodbury was one-for three with the sole RBI.
