Charlotte, NC - The Lady Rams swept a CIAA Western Division doubleheader from the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University on Tuesday evening hammering out 15 hits and scoring 18 runs as they defeated JCSU 18-7 in the final game of a doubleheader in Charlotte, NC.
The Lady Rams, who improve to an unbelievable 17-1 in the CIAA keep on rolling along as they have now won three straight games after falling to Shaw University four games ago. Prior to that loss, the Lady Rams had won 14 straight contests all of the CIAA league games.
The Lady Rams scored in every inning of play except for the fourth inning as WSSU scored a pair of runs in the first and third innings, three runs in the second and fourth innings, a single run in the sixth inning, and seven runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to the blowout win.
Earning the win for the Lady Rams was Amber Nance who improves to 6-0 on the season in 2004. She struck out 10 JCSU batters while giving up 14 hits and seven runs in the contest.
WSSU improves to 20-7 overall in 2004 and returns to action on Friday, April 9th, 2004 when they travel to Elizabeth City State to make up the doubleheader that was rained out in what was to have been WSSU's opening weekend of CIAA play.
