Lady Rams Struggle in 8-1 Loss to North Carolina A&T

April 6, 2008

Box Score

GREENSBORO, NC - The usually potent Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (15-13) struggled to a tough 8-1 loss to the North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies (16-11-1). The Lady Rams managed just one run in the game on six team hits in the contest.

The Lady Rams ran into some early struggles with North Carolina A&T scoring six unanswered runs in the first three innings of the game. The Lady Rams were able to answer with an RBI double from WSSU junior Desiree Ramirez that drove in freshman Kayla Woodbury to give the Lady Rams their only score of the game. North Carolina A&T would respond with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. The first run came on a WSSU throwing error while the second came on an RBI groundout that rounded out the scoring in the game. The Lady Rams would step up their defensive efforts to push the game to seven innings but could get no closer in the scoring column.

WSSU junior Amber Shore (8-7) took the loss in the game pitching all six innings and allowing eight hits with six earned runs in the game. She managed six strikeouts in the game.
