Fayetteville, NC - The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University broke out the big bats on Thursday evening in Fayetteville, NC as they scored six runs in the first inning and seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 13-4 victory over the WSSU Lady Rams in a CIAA league softball contest.
WSSU would never get going offensively in the contest as they could muster only four runs on the evening, tallying one in the first and fourth innings and two in the third inning.
In direct contrast to the offensively-challenged Lady Rams, the Lady Broncos would score six runs in the first inning, and seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to record their game-high 13 total runs.
Despite recording four errors in the contest, the Lady Broncos would smash 13 total hits and record 13 runs in the victory.
FSU would saddle WSSU senior pitcher Shannon Davis with the loss. The loss, Davis' eighth of the season, moved her to 8-8 overall. Davis would be saddled with 13 runs on 13 hits, while striking out a pair of FSU batters, walking only four. The loss is Davis' eighth overall as she records her 14th complete-game of the year.
With the loss, the Lady Rams drop to 11-16 overall and fall to 11-8 in the CIAA.
WSSU will return to action on Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 at 12:00 PM as they travel to Banner Elk, NC to face Lees-McRae in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader.
