ORANGEBURG, SC  - Freshman outfielder Devyn Gillette led the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (8-23) to a huge 11-2 win over the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs (2-34), Friday afternoon. It was an eight-run fourth inning that sealed the victory for the Lady Rams.

The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in the first three innings of the game, but the Lady Rams ran off eight unanswered runs in the fourth inning and added another insurance run in the fifth inning to walk away with the victory. The Lady Rams knocked out six hits in the fourth inning, including a pair of two-RBI singles by sophomore Kendall Sutton and freshman shortstop Whitney Hall.

Sophomore infielder Kendall Sutton led the way for the Lady Rams going 2-for-4 from the plate with three RBI in the win. Three Lady Rams went 2-for-4 from the plate as well, including freshman Devyn Gillette's double and triple in the game. The freshman was just a single and a homer shy of hitting for the cycle in the contest.

Sophomore Amber Shore pitched the Lady Rams to the win going all five innings and allowing just one earned run on four hits allowed.

With the win, the Lady Rams wrapped up a winning season against the Lady Bulldogs winning all three meetings. The team would get a chance to complete the season sweep just twenty minutes later in game two of the doubleheader.
