WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team earned the sweep of the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University on Monday afternoon in Winston-Salem, NC as WSSU defeated FSU 6-5 in the second and final game of a CIAA softball doubleheader.
The Lady Rams saw Elyon Taylor record six innings of work as she gave up five earned runs en route to the win. The win moves Taylor to 8-8 overall and 8-2 in the CIAA. WSSU's pitching ace Amber Shore earned the save, her third of the season as she faced four FSU batters, retiring three and preserving the WSSU victory.
WSSU improves to 19-16 on the season and moves to 17-3 in the CIAA with the victory.
The Lady Rams will return to action at 2:00 pm on Wednesday April, 12, 2006 when they meet the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. The two teams will decide the CIAA Western Division regular-season title with the doubleheader.
