JCSU Softball Sweeps Lady Rams; WSSU Loses 6-0 In Game Two

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Johnson C. Smith University Lady Golden Bulls defeated WSSU 6-0 in the second game of a CIAA softball doubleheader in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday afternoon to earn a series sweep and all but sew up the CIAA Western Division regular-season title.

 

The Lady Rams were never able to get on the scoreboard in the second game as they generated no runs and only pounded out three hits.

 

WSSU's Elyon Taylor pitched a complete-game, allowing all six five runs while striking out three Lady Golden Bulls.  She was saddled with the loss as she fell to 8-9 overall (8-4 CIAA).


 

 

 

Earning the win for JCSU was Theresa Vorwerk who moved to 18-7 overall with the victory.

 

WSSU falls to 19-18 overall and 17-5 in the CIAA with the loss while Johnson C. Smith moves to 29-11 overall and improves to 17-4 in the CIAA with the win.

 

The Lady Rams will not return to action until next week's CIAA softball championships in Petersburg, VA, starting on Thursday afternoon.
