PETERSBURG, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team ended the Shaw University Lady Bears season as they hammered SU 8-0 in the second game of the opening-round of the CIAA Women's Softball Championship action from the campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Rams, fresh off of a 4-1 loss to Virginia State University, bounced back and cruised to an 8-0 shutout win over the Lady Bears.
WSSU pitcher Amber Shore held the Lady Bears scoreless for the contest's five innings as she struck out eight batters en route to her 10th complete-game win of the season as she moved her overall record to 10-9 on the season.

The win moves WSSU to 20-19 on the season (17-5 CIAA) and keeps the Lady Rams alive in the consolation bracket of the double-elimination CIAA Women's Softball Championship tournament.
WSSU will now face Virginia State University in a rematch contest with the loser being eliminated at 10:00 AM from the Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, VA of Friday morning. Amber Shore is slated to take to the mound for the Lady Rams.
