Lady Rams Power Past Coppin State in 10-2 Victory

BALTIMORE, MD - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (17-21) scored a big 10-2 win over the Coppin State Lady Eagles (0-25), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rams had a big day on both sides of the plate knocking out 14 hits and allowing just three in the win.

 

The Lady Rams wasted little time getting onto the scoreboard taking a 2-1 lead in the second inning and scoring eight more unanswered runs to jump ahead 10-1. The team would allow one more run to the Lady Eagles before taking the 10-2 win. The Lady Rams exploded for five runs in the fifth inning. It was a triple by two-RBI triple by junior outfielder Elyon Taylor that highlighted the game.

 

WSSU freshman catcher Kayla Woodbury had a stellar day, going 3-for-3 from the plate with a pair of doubles and two runs scored in the win. Junior pitcher Amber Shore was also big in the game with a 3-for-4 performance with two RBI and a run scored.


 

 

 

In the circle for the Lady Rams was junior pitcher Amber Shore, who had a dominant pitching performance. She allowed just three hits in the game with nine strikeouts.  

 

The win was the second in a row for the Lady Rams. The two teams would meet later in the day to complete the doubleheader.
