BALTIMORE, MD - The hits kept coming for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (18-21), Saturday as the team knocked out 16 hits in a dominating 20-0 win over the Coppin State Lady Eagles (0-26). The jumped ahead early and never looked back in scoring their biggest win of the season.
The Lady Rams scored 13 runs in the first three innings of play, highlighted by scoring nine second-inning runs. WSSU freshman Whitney Wright and junior infielder Whitney Hall were both a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate in the win. Freshman catcher Kayla Woodbury had the a team-high six RBI in the game to go along with her fourth home run of the game.
WSSU sophomore Ashley Boswell pitched the Lady Rams to the shutout win, going all five innings with five strikeouts and allowing five hits.
The Lady Rams will return to action on tomorrow when the team heads across town to take on the Morgan State Lady Bears.
