Final Stats

PETERSBURG, VA - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team defeated the Virginia State University Lady Trojans by the score of 3-1 on Friday morning at the Petersburg Sports Complex in Petersburg, VA to set up a match-up against Elizabeth City State University at 2:00 pm in the consolation bracket of the 2006 CIAA Women's Softball Championship.

The Lady Rams, behind a complete-game effort from pitcher Amber Shore avenged Thursday morning's 4-1 loss to Virginia State by eliminating them from the 2006 CIAA Softball Championships by handing them a 3-1 loss in which WSSU never trailed.

With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 21-19 overall on the season (17-5 CIAA) and in turn keep their hopes alive for a CIAA Softball Championship in 2006.

The Lady Rams advance to play Elizabeth City State University at 2:00 pm following ECSU's 4-3 win in 11 innings over heavily-favored Elizabeth City State University.
