Boswell Allows One Hit in WSSU 3-0 Win Over UMES - WINSTON-SALEM STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - Freshman pitcher Ashley Boswell allowed just one hit while leading the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (11-27) to a 3-0 win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Lady Hawks (2-27), Saturday afternoon. The game turned out to be a pitching duel as the two teams combined for just six hits in game one of the doubleheader.

The Lady Rams needed just five hits to pull out the win. Sophomore infielder Kendall Sutton drove in the first run of the game hitting an RBI sacrifice bunt, driving in freshman outfielder Devyn Gillette in the fifth inning. Sophomore designated hitter Amber Shore hit a two-RBI single in the seventh inning to lead the way for the Lady Rams in the win.

Boswell (5-13) pitched all seven innings of the win, allowing just one hit and shutting out the Lady Hawks in the win. The two teams would not have long to wait before they met up once again, meeting in the second game of the doubleheader twenty minutes later.
