NORFOLK, VA - One big inning proved costly for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (12-29) as the team took a 7-1 loss to the Norfolk State Lady Spartans (23-20), one of the most improved teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Sunday afternoon. The Lady Rams allowed six second inning runs in the loss.
The second inning was especially troubling for the Lady Rams as four of the NSU runs came off of a pair of WSSU errors. A seventh-inning home run by sophomore Amber Shore was the only run scored by the Lady Rams in the contest.
Sophomore Amber Shore (6-15) pitched all six innings in the loss allowing four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
The Lady Rams will wrap up the 2007 season on Saturday when they host the Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats in a home doubleheader at South Park Field. The doubleheader contest is set for a 12:00 p.m. start. Admission to both games is free.
