WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (12-30) gave a great effort, but were saddled by one bad inning in the team's 11-2 loss to the Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats (20-30), Saturday afternoon. The Lady Rams struck first scoring a pair of first inning runs, but gave up 11 unanswered runs to the Lady Wildcats, including a six-inning rally in the fifth inning that put the game away.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Boswell led the way for the Lady Rams going 1-for-2 from the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Sophomore Amber Shore was also 1-for-2 from the plate with an RBI, scoring Boswell in the first inning. Sophomore outfielder Lonnie Jones scored the other run for the Lady Rams.

Boswell (5-15) took the loss for the Lady Rams pitching all five innings, and allowed eight earned runs on 10 B-CC hits. She added six strikeouts in the game as well.

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-3 against the Lady Wildcats this season with just one more chance as the two teams would meet for the final time this season in game two of the doubleheader.
