Lady Rams Struggle in 9-0 Road Loss to Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (19-25) fell into an offensive slump, Tuesday, taking a 9-0 loss to the Western Carolina Catamounts (18-34). The Lady Rams were held scoreless for the first time in 23 days and could not match the aggressive hitting of Western Carolina.

 

The Lady Rams allowed nine earned runs on eight hits in the loss and gave up a pair of home runs to the Catamounts. As a team, the Lady Rams were able to piece together just three hits in the game with none crossing the plate in the loss.

 

WSSU sophomore Devyn Gillette was 1-for-1 from the plate with a single and was hit by a pitch in her two plate appearances. Lady Ram freshman outfielder Whitney Wright was 1-of-2 from the plate.


 

 

 

Lady Ram junior Amber Shore (10-15) took the pitching loss after pitching just two innings with five hits and just one strikeout. WSSU sophomore Ashley Boswell pitched the final two innings for the Lady Rams.

 

The same two teams would square off to cap the doubleheader in an evening nightcap.
