Orangeburg, SC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams softball team improved to 1-1 on the season as they defeated Claflin in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Rams, who were defeated yesterday by Bennett, bounced back as Heather Davis (Sr./P/5'11"/Detroit, MI) was the pitcher of record and improved her 2004 record to 1-1 allowing five runs on five hits.

The Lady Rams were paced by Curtina Barrett who drilled a two-run home run in the seventh inning of the contest and put the Lady Rams up for good in the victory. They return to action at 4:30 pm in the second game of the two-game series.
