Well Rested Lady Rams Ready to Face Gardner Webb

March 13, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (3-14) return to action Wednesday when they take on the Gardner Webb Bulldogs (17-14) in a home doubleheader at South Park Field. The Lady Rams will be happy to return home after playing their last seven games on the road, including a four-game road trip to Florida to face Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman.

Though the Lady Rams have struggled on the road with an 0-9 record, all three of the team's wins have come at South Park Field and the squad has earned a split in each of its last three home double-headers. The team's last home action came on February 24th when the team won one-of-three games including splitting a double-header with the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. The Lady Rams took a 5-4 loss in game one of the doubleheader and rebounded for a 10-0 win in game two. The Lady Rams followed that effort taking a 15-0 loss to Howard. Since then, the Lady Rams have struggled going 1-6 in games all away from South Park Field.

Despite the teams struggles, senior outfielder L'Tisha Bell has continued to lead the Lady Rams' efforts this season with a team-best .295 batting average. Sophomore pitcher Amber Shore leads the team in RBI with seven this season and the team's sole home run. The duo will look to spark the Lady Rams who haven't scored more than two runs in their last six games.

Heading into town will be a Gardner-Webb team that is on a roll winning three of their last five games, including taking a pair of wins over Valparaiso. The Bulldogs will be a bit tired, however, playing on their fifth day in a row and facing their fifth different opponent during that span. Gardner Webb will face North Carolina A&T on Tuesday before heading up I-40 to take on the Lady Rams.

Wednesday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start and admission to Wednesday's doubleheader is free. The Lady Rams and Bulldogs will face off at South Park Field in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
