Lady Rams Hosting Florida A&M in Saturday Doubleheader

March 23, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (4-19) will have a lot on their hands, Saturday afternoon when the team hosts the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers (7-27). The Lady Rams will head into Saturday's game looking for a bit of payback as the team took a pair of road losses to the Lady Rattlers earlier this season.

The Lady Rams were competitive in Florida, falling to FAMU, 9-1 and 2-1 when they met on March 6th. The FAMU pitching was too much for the Lady Rams the last time the two teams met with the Lady Rams totaling seven hits in the two games, four of which came in game two of the doubleheader. Freshman pitcher Ashley Boswell has been leading the way for the Lady Rams of late batting .321 this season with six runs scored. Boswell also leads the team in ERA at 7.21 this season. Three WSSU players pace the team in RBI with seven each.

The Lady Rattlers head into Saturday's games with some recent struggles having lost eight of their last nine games, but have played some top flight competition facing Georgia, Florida State . The team will face North Carolina A&T on Friday before facing the Lady Rams on Saturday. However, the Lady Rattlers will bring in some hitting with junior infielder Alacia Strafford batting .316 with 17 RBI and senior utility Shalina Taylor battling .313. Sophomore outfielder Rhianna Green leads the team in RBI with 20 this season.

The first of the two doubleheaders is set for a 12:00 p.m. start. Admission to the game is free.
