Lady Rams Hosting Savannah State in Wednesday Afternoon Doubleheader

GAME NOTES

 

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (11-9) have been dominant at South Park Field this season and will look to keep things going this season when they host the Savannah State Lady Tigers (3-23) in a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader. The Lady Rams will head into the game, looking to extend their current six-game home winning streak and remain undefeated in home games this March.

 

The squad has been especially impressive at the plate in the wins, scoring double-digit runs in six of their 10 home games this season, including scoring a combined 23 runs in a double-header sweep of the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Lady Hawks last Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Rams have scored double-digit runs in their last four home games, dating back to February 23rd.

 

As a team, the Lady Rams have been strong, batting .331 for the season with 128 runs scored. Leading the way for the Lady Rams is freshman utility player Kayla Woodbury, who is batting a scorching .585 this season with a team-leading 15 RBI and 10 runs scored. The Mount Airy, NC native has gotten her collegiate career off to a great start with 24 hits in 41 at-bats.


 

 

 

The Lady Rams will face struggling Savannah State team, Wednesday with the Lady Tigers suffering through a seven-game losing skid that includes a pair of losses to the Lady Rams. Leading the way for the Lady Tigers is junior infielder Joselyn Ross, who leads the team with a .315 batting average. She is currently tied for the team lead in RBI with nine this season and two extra base hits. She has also started 23 games for the Lady Tigers this season.

 

Wednesday's doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start at South Park Field in Winston-Salem, NC. Admission to both games is free.
