Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Department of Athletics announced on Monday that women's softball player Shannon Davis (Detroit, IM) has been named the Crown Trophy-WSSU Student Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 11th, 2005 for her recent on-field performances over the last seven days.

Davis, a senior on the WSSU Lady Rams' softball team, helped to lead WSSU to a 3-1 record over the past seven days as she collected a trio of wins. With the wins over the past week, she has evened her season record to 8-8 overall en route to captaining WSSU to an 11-16 overall record and an 11-8 CIAA record.

Shannon Davis is no stranger to weekly athletic honors at WSSU as she was named Crown Trophy-Student Athlete of the week three times during the academic calendar year as she is not only a softball player, but is also a member of the WSSU Lady Rams' bowling team. For her efforts on the softball diamond this past week, she has been named the Crown Trophy-WSSU Student Athlete of the Week.
