Durham, NC - Due to rain and unplayable field conditions, the Lady Rams' final softball doubleheader of the 2004 regular season has been cancelled. The Lady Rams have also been awarded the #1 seed for Thursday's CIAA Softball Championship opening rounds, and have won the CIAA Western Division regular season title.
The Lady Rams, who were scheduled to play a CIAA Western Division softball doubleheader versus the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University on Tuesday afternoon, after a postponement from Monday, will not play a regular season contest versus NCCU this season.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has awarded WSSU the Western Division crown and the #1 seed based upon Western Division conference record. WSSU finished the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and an 11-3 conference mark (8-0 in the Western Division). Due to the Lady Rams' unblemished Western Division record, WSSU earns the 2004 Western Division regular-season title.
