Lady Rams to Wrap Up 2007 Season With Doubleheader vs. Bethune-Cookman

April 27, 2007

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (12-29) will look to end the 2007 season on a high note when the team faces the Bethune-Cookman Lady Wildcats (19-30) in a noon doubleheader at South Park Field in Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday. The games will be a bittersweet moment as WSSU senior catcher L'Tisha Bell will suit up for the last time as a Lady Ram.

A vocal and emotional leader for a young Lady Rams team, Bell is currently the team's third best hitter with a .255 average and seven RBI. The senior also made the switch from outfielder to catcher when injury forced a need at the position. Her stellar play allowed the Lady Rams to step up their defensive efforts and keyed a number of the team's victories.

The Lady Rams head into Saturday's games seeking a bit of payback for a pair of road losses at Bethune-Cookman earlier this season. The Lady Rams have been strong of late; however, going 3-3 in their last six games, including taking a 2-1 win over North Carolina Central in their last action at South Park Field. The win was a huge one for the Lady Rams as it snapped a 16-game winning streak that NCCU carried into the game. Bethune-Cookman heads into the game after splitting a doubleheader against South Carolina State in Daytona Beach, FL last Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Rams and Lady Wildcats are scheduled for a noon start at South Park Field. Admission to the game is free.
