Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University student-athlete Tamika Ferguson, a sophomore softball player, was named the recipient of the WSSU Chancellor's Cup on Wednesday evening, April 29th, 2004 at the 2004 WSSU Athletic Awards Banquet that took place in the McNeil Ballroom of the Anderson Center.
The Chancellor's Cup, an award presented to the student-athlete with the highest overall grade point average who has participated in at least two years of varsity athletic competition went to WSSU softball player, Tomekia Ferguson.
Ferguson, a sophomore molecular biology major and the 2004 WSSU Softball Most Improved Player who possesses a 3.980 grade point average was awarded the WSSU Chancellor's Cup by WSSU Provost Dr. Melvin Johnson.
As well, the Lady Rams softball team was awarded two more honors as the team was given the Athletic Director's Cup which is awarded to the team with the highest GPA, and senior pitcher Heather Davis was named the 2004 Mary Garber Female Student Athlete of the Year.
