PETERSBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (19-8) took a 5-0 win over the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos to advance to the semifinals of the 2012 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, Thursday morning. The Lady Rams opened the tournament with a bang in a big win over their opening round foes.
The Lady Rams got things started early when they took three doubles wins over the Lady Broncos. After Fayetteville State defaulted on the #3 point, the Lady Rams took care of business with the duo of junior Kayla Carter and Sloane Holmes taking an 8-2 victory. The junior tandem of Kalin Jarvis and Sloane Holmes also combined for an 8-1 victory as well. With the doubles wins and another FSU default in singles, WSSU sophomore Dominique Lindsay closed out the win with a 6-0, 6-0 singles win.
