PETERSBURG, VA – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (20-8) advanced to finals of the 2012 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, Friday when the team took a 5-0 win over the host Virginia State Lady Trojans. The Lady Rams will look for their second straight CIAA championship when they take on the winner of the Shaw/Johnson C Smith semifinal match.
The #2 Lady Rams put on a great performance to take the win as they fought off a talented Virginia State team, Friday. The Lady Rams had to bring their best efforts early as they took three wins in doubles play, 8-5, 8-3, and 8-4. The team carried their strong play into singles play with wins at #3 and #6 singles. Junior Bianka Locklear took the #3 singles win, 6-2, 6-1 and Chelsea Chatman took the #6 singles win 6-0, 6-1.
