WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Winston-Salem State University women's tennis team will travel to California (PA) to take on the #8 ranked, and #1 Atlantic Regional seed, Lady Vulcans of California (PA) at 1:00 p.m. in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday.
All matches will be played at Roadman Park on April 28-29
The WSSU Lady Rams (20-9) will be making their second consecutive NCAA appearance. WSSU is coming off of a 5-0 loss to Shaw University in the CIAA Championship last Saturday in Petersburg, Va.
Shaw, the fourth seed in the Atlantic Region, will take on fifth seeded West Virginia State on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Shaw Lady Bears won their third CIAA Championship in four years on Saturday and suffered their only loss to Division I Charleston Southern. WVSU is 15-7 on the season.
The winner of the Shaw-West Virginia State matchup will take on the winner of the match between California (PA) and number eight seed Winston-Salem State Sunday morning at 10:00. The winner of that matchup will advance to the national tournament to be held in Louisville, Ky.
