Lady Rams Take Tough 6-3 Loss to Shaw

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (11-6, 10-2 CIAA) took a tough 6-3 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears (9-2, 7-0 CIAA), Monday afternoon. The Lady Rams gave it all they had, but the team could not overcome a talented Lady Bears team.

The Lady Rams ran into some struggles early with a pair of doubles losses. Only the tandem of senior Bianka Locklear and sophomore Devan Corpening were able to bring home a doubles win. The effort left the team with a 2-2 deficit heading into singles play.

The team made an attempt at a rally in singles play with juniors Dominique Lindsay and Taylor Harris both notching 6-0, 6-0 singles wins.

With the effort, the Lady Rams fall into second place in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play. The team will return to action, Saturday when they host Davis & Elkins. For more information on Lady Rams tennis, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to
