Rams Battle in 9-0 Loss at Shaw

RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-5, 1-3 CIAA) gave a solid effort, but the team could get past the Shaw Lady Bears (7-1, 3-0 CIAA) in a 9-0 road loss, Friday. With the loss, the Rams take their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division setback of the season.

The Rams got a slow start to the day with three 8-0 losses in doubles play. The Rams saw an improved effort in singles play with junior Alexus Morgan putting on the best performance, battling to a 5-7, 1-6 loss at #2 singles while senior Gabrielle Lindsay took a 0-6, 1-6 loss at #1 singles. The Rams closed the day with 0-6, 0-6 losses at #3- #6 singles.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in CIAA play. The team also falls to 1-1 in CIAA Southern Division play. The Rams will return to action, Sunday when the team hosts the Fairmont State Falcons in a non-conference match.
