Rams Take 9-0 Loss to Shaw


WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-7, 6-3 CIAA) took a 9-0 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears (15-1, 10-0 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. The Rams gave a great effort, but the team fell short against the reigning conference champion Lady Bears.

The Rams opened the match with three straight losses in doubles play. The team's best performance came at #3 doubles when the duo of senior Aja Grant and freshman Taylor Champion took an 8-6 loss. The Rams took 8-0 losses at #1 and #2 doubles.

The team carried its efforts into singles play. Unfortunately, the Rams took six straight losses. Senior Alexus Morgan had a solid effort. She took a 6-2, 6-4 loss at #1 singles while freshman Avion Harris tok a 6-2, 6-4 loss at #6 singles.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 7-7 overall and 6-3 in CIAA play. The team also falls to 2-3 in CIAA Southern Division play. The Rams will return to action, Tuesday when the team hosts the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls.
