Feb. 21, 2005

Final Stats

Rocky Mount, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams tennis team moved to 2-0 overall on the season on Saturday evening as they defeated North Carolina Wesleyan in a non-conference tennis match by the score of 6-1 at the Rocky Mount Tennis Center in Rocky Mount, NC.

WSSU would drop the decision in the first singles flight as N.C. Wesleyan's Jenna Gollub defeated Amber Stewart by the score of 6-3, 6-1 to give the home team an early edge.

However, the Lady Rams would sweep the second, third, fourth, and fifth singles flights, as well as earning wins in the first and second double flights to cruise to a 6-1 win.

WSSU's Amanda Walker and Ashley Hopper each blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at the third and fourth singles slots, respectively.

With the comeback the Lady Rams won their second consecutive match to improve to 2-0 overall on the year.

WSSU will return to action on March 17th as they face Johnson C. Smith University in Winston-Salem, NC at 2:00 pm.
