Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams tennis team improved to 6-3 overall on the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated an understaffed Saint Paul's College Lady Tigers tennis team by the score of 7-2 at the WSSU Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, NC.
WSSU's Amber Stewart fell in defeat in the first singles flight by the score of 8-6 as Saint Paul's College earned the first, and their only, point in singles competition. The Lady Rams earned easy wins at the second, third and fourth singles spots before being the beneficiary of a pair of defaults at the fifth and sixth singles flights.
The doubles matches would see the Lady Rams split a pair of points with the Lady Tigers as Amber Stewart and Chandra Allen defeated A. Coles and M. Brooks 8-3, but saw their Lady Ram teammates Janet Wheeler and Ashley Hopper fall in defeat by the score of 5-8 in the second doubles flight.
The final WSSU point of the afternoon would come in the third doubles flight as Trinette Lewis and Amanda Walker earned a point via default en route to the 7-2 CIAA women's tennis victory.
WSSU improves to 6-3 overall and returns to the court on March 31st, 2005 at 11:00 AM when they play host to the Lady Trojans of Virginia State at the WSSU Tennis Complex.
