Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams tennis team fell in defeat to the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles by the score of 6-3 in the first of a pair of CIAA tennis matches at the WSSU Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, NC on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Rams, who fall to 7-8 overall on the season with the loss, put up a valiant effort but fell short by two points to the up and coming Lady Eagles.
WSSU was able to earn three points in the match as Amber Stewart was victorious at first singles by the score of 8-4, and Janet Wheeler was a winner at fifth singles 8-0. As well, Wheeler teamed up with doubles partner Ashley Hopper and cruised to an 8-0 victory at second doubles.
The Lady Rams and Lady Eagles return to action in the final game of the tennis doubleheader at 5:00 pm as WSSU looks for retribution.
