Durham, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams' tennis team improved to 7-6 on the season on Tuesday afternoon in Durham, NC as they easily defeated the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University by the score of 7-1 in the first of a pair of CIAA tennis league matches at the NCCU Tennis Complex.
The Lady Eagles would record only one point in the match as Janelle Ligons defeated WSSU's Amber Stewart by the score of 8-4 at the first singles flight. That lone point would not be enough as the Lady Rams would emerge victorious at the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles flights and the second and third doubles flights en route to the 7-1 win.
The first doubles flight did not see a conclusion to the match as it was still ongoing when the contest's outcome was clinched by the Lady Rams. It remains unfinished.
The Lady Rams improve to one game above .500 at 7-6 with the victory. The two teams will return to the court at 3:00 PM to square off in the second match of the tennis doubleheader.
