WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams tennis team closed out the 2009 season with a 7-0 loss to Florida A&M University at the WSSU Tennis Complex as the Lady Rattlers earned straight-set victories in all six singles flights and all three doubles matches en route to sweeping WSSU in MEAC women’s tennis action.
The Lady Rattlers opened the match by securing the doubles point as Florida A&M swept all three doubles matches as they held the Lady Rams to only three points in the trio of doubles flights.
FAMU would not relinquish their early lead as they swept all six singles matches in straight sets with only WSSU’s Laken Joyce recording more than two points in a match as she fell to Latreece Olagbegi 6-4, 6-1 in the Lady Rams’ most impressive performance of the afternoon.
The loss marked the last contest of the season for WSSU who closed out the 2009 season with a 1-19 overall record.
