Winston-Salem, NC - The Winston-Salem State University women's tennis team completed a two-match sweep over the visiting Lady Falcons of Saint Augustine's College at the WSSU Tennis Complex with a second-match, 4-3 victory as WSSU improved to 11-7 on the season in 2005.
The Lady Falcons would keep it close in the contest as they won three flights in the match as they secured wins at the first and second singles flights and first doubles flight.
Aurea Griffith defeated Amber Stewart at first singles by the score of 8-0 and she combined with Jennifer Sterling at first doubles to defeat Amanda Walker and Trinette Lewis by the score of 8-0 to earn SAC two of the three points they would receive in the match. SAC then emerged victorious at the second singles flight as Jennifer Sterling defeated Amanda Walker 8-2.
WSSU posted wins at every other flight as the Lady Rams snuck by the visiting Lady Falcons by the score of 4-3.
The two teams will return to action this week and weekend at the 2005 CIAA tennis championships in Richmond, VA.
