Weather Forces Tennis Cancellation For WSSU Men's and Women's Tennis

Jan. 29, 2010

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Heavy snowfall over the central and western part of North Carolina and a weather forecast that calls for upwards of a foot of accumulation has forced the start of the Winston-Salem State University men's and women's tennis seasons to be postponed. The Rams' matches at Presbyterian on Jan. 31 and versus Gardner-Webb on Feb. 1 and the Lady Rams' match at Presbyterian on Jan. 31 have been postponed as announced by WSSU head tennis coach Charlie Schoderbek late Friday afternoon.

"We were looking forward to the start of the 2010 tennis season but our primary concern is the safety of our student-athletes and rather than risk traveling in these conditions we have decided to postpone the matches. They will be rescheduled as soon as possible" WSSU head tennis coach Charlie Schoderbek said.

Make-up dates for the trio of matches have not yet been confirmed. For additional information on WSSU tennis, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to the Official Website of WSSU Athletics at WSSURams.com.
